127 Impact of Zero Bail on Mental Health Services at Marin County Jail

In California, an order that county jails eliminate bail for misdemeanors or certain low-level felonies had a major effect on Marin County Jail operations. This talk will describe impacts such as rapid release decisions that required mental health reentry planning and placement on short notice, and the need for more extensive evaluation and follow-up for the high-acuity mentally ill patients that remained. Recommendations for responding to these changes will be shared.
