107 Dermatology: The Ordinary and Extraordinary

There are many common skin problems, some that may have unusual presentation or be confused with other diagnoses. In some cases skin eruptions can become serious and fail to respond to usual treatments, thus requiring newer approaches. Less familiar conditions can herald underlying systemic or genetic conditions that must be recognized. Cases will be used to demonstrate presentation of some of the conditions.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the usual and unusual presentations of selected skin conditions
  • Review management of skin eruptions including their severe presentations
  • Discuss how to manage rashes that indicate a systemic illness
